The ongoing rift between Prince Harry and the Prince and Princess of Wales has become a topic of intense speculation. Recent reports indicate that the Duke of Sussex seeks reconciliation with his brother and sister-in-law, but he is awaiting an apology from them as a prerequisite. According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Prince Harry aims to foster a better relationship between his children and the Waleses.
However, both he and Meghan Markle allegedly expect a “grovelling apology” from Prince William and Kate Middleton before repairing the strained relationship. The specific reasons behind this demand remain unclear, but they underscore the deep divisions within the royal family and the challenges in bridging those gaps.
Prince Harry’s potential desire for an apology from his brother may be linked to a statement previously issued by the Palace, reportedly involving Princess Kate in its drafting. In 2021, following their departure from royal duties and England, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with Oprah Winfrey for a candid interview.
During this televised conversation, they revealed several revelations, including discussions about senior royals expressing concerns regarding the potential skin tone of their then-unborn son, Archie.
In response to various claims and revelations, Buckingham Palace released a statement acknowledging the challenges faced by Harry and Meghan over the past few years. The statement emphasized that while some recollections may differ, they take the issues raised, particularly those related to race, very seriously. The family intends to address these matters privately, reaffirming that Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be cherished family members.
Valentine Low’s book, “Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown,” sheds light on the alleged conversations and deliberations among senior royal members and aides leading up to the formal statement. According to Low, the phrase “recollections may vary” was introduced by Jean-Christophe Gray, Prince William’s private secretary.
However, other sources attribute the phrase’s authorship to Clive Alderton, King Charles’s private secretary. Interestingly, officials from other royal households expressed reservations about including this phrase, fearing it could escalate tensions with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Despite these concerns, Low’s narrative suggests that the Duchess of Cambridge, now the Princess of Wales, advocated for retaining the phrase. Her rationale, as cited by another source, was that history would judge the statement, and omitting such a phrase might lead to everything they said being accepted as true.
The identities of the “senior royal members” mentioned in this context were disclosed in journalist Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame,” which promptly caused its withdrawal from shelves. The book named King Charles and Kate as the individuals involved.”
